Slow Food is an international movement to counteract our fast paced lives. Slow Food is good, clean and fair food. Slow Food members believe that food should taste good and be produced in a clean way that does not harm the environment, animal welfare or our health; and that food producers should receive fair compensation for their work.
Slow Food Lake Tahoe hosts the popular Dinners in the Barn events and promotes regional farmer’s markets and community supported agriculture (CSAs). Their fundraisers help the Truckee Tahoe Nutrition Coalition which promotes optimum health through nutrition and physical activity such as Fun Food Days, Harvest of the Month, and Fit, Fueled, Ready to Move and the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Student Wellness Policy.
